Vintage jewelry has been on the rise for the past five years, while items like vintage clothing were just falling back out of fashion. What exactly makes a piece of jewelry, vintage, and why is it that the stars are flocking to get their hands on a piece?
Vintage jewelry usually is defined by being at least twenty years old or more. These prior-era pieces can be originals, or reconstructed in some way. Newer designers such Bonnie Sedan, have taken the opportunity to up-cycle older materials, therefore creating jewelry with vintage metal or stonework within it. In Bonnie Sedan's line, Pinky Elodie, most all pieces are upcycled with use of recycled materials, vintage brass and vintage coppers.
Some celebs collect vintage pieces, while others choose to get proper wear out of them. The amount of artisan jewelers that create vintage pieces is rare, but the ones that do, like Pinky Elodie, keep their prices fair. Check out some websites and get your vintage piece of jewelry today!

Using Resin In Jewelry?
Resin. Yep, using resin in jewelry is a new and awesome way in which to create pieces of wearable art with raw and natural appeal. A substance created from plant-life, this dino-age fluid hardens over time. While moist, it can also be used to produce incense, perfumes, colognes and oils of a variety of scents.
When hardened, resin isn't exactly as smell-good as one might think. Actually, after tumbled, resin has no smell at all. Falling and hardening into variations of different forms, jewelry designers such as Pinky Elodie keep the raw state, instead of grinding the piece down to look like a bead or perfectly shaped stone.
Resin also can formulate its own gloss coat if aged over time. Although most artisan jewelers choose to coat the resin themselves, to create a better visual appeal.
Wearable art can be created out of almost anything, but some designers are starting to move toward the rawness of the earth that surrounds us, as their inspiration for fashion statements. Fashion forward in an urban or country setting, these pieces are bound to hit Hollywood soon.

Artisan Jewelry Created From Recycled Materials
Artisan jewelry, formally defined as artistic jewelry that is not only made with precious metals and gems, but with an additional distributed use of other forms of materials. In the case that a jewelry artist would use recycled materials, it could be stated that the concept of artisan jewelry surely exists.
Using recycled materials is often a difficult task, as few recycled materials can, in fact, take the place of precious metals and/or gemstones. So with this being said, what is available for use in place of these materials? Some use recycled brass and copper, while others may turn to plastic and/or acrylic pieces. Either way, the concept of using recycled goods to create wearable art has become an art form few have mastered.
What are the benefits of using recycled materials as a jeweler? Well, besides that of caring for the planet, and proving it via your creations, you are also promoting those who also choose to care for the earth via making and selling recycled goods. Individuals or companies that recycle goods, and produce materials for artists to create with, are turning the world's junk into an artists's creative outlet. Who wouldn't want to support such a grand effort?
